Our Origin Story

Why We Built The "Digital Court" of UP?

Uttar Pradesh is home to the largest judicial system in Asia. With over 10 million pending cases across 75 districts, finding a reliable advocate has traditionally been a nightmare. For decades, citizens were forced to rely on touts (dalals) lurking outside courts in Lucknow, Kanpur, and Etawah. These middlemen prioritized their commissions over the client's justice.

We declared war on this opacity. UP-Legal Directory was founded with a singular, powerful mission: To replace the "Dalal System" with a transparent "Digital Ecosystem". We wanted to ensure that a farmer in a remote village of Mainpuri has the same access to high-quality legal counsel as a businessman in Noida.

Today, we are the only platform in the state that rigorously verifies every advocate's Bar Council Enrollment Number before listing them. We have created a merit-based system where experience and client satisfaction determine a lawyer's visibility, not their political connections.

"Justice accessible is justice delivered. We don't just list lawyers; we verify trust. When you see the 'Verified' badge on UP-Legal, it means that advocate is real, experienced, and ready to fight for you."

Know The Procedure Before You Hire

We believe an informed client is a powerful client. Here are simplified guides to common legal procedures in Uttar Pradesh.

1 How to File an FIR?

  1. Visit Jurisdiction Thana

Go to the Police Station (Thana) that covers the area of the crime. If urgent, go to ANY Thana for a 'Zero FIR'.

  2. Written Complaint

Submit an application. Mention Date, Time, Location, and Suspects clearly. Keep a photocopy.

  3. Get FIR Copy (Free)

Police must give you a copy of the FIR free of cost under Section 154(2) CrPC.

  4. If Police Refuse?

Send complaint via Regd. Post to SP. If no action, hire a lawyer to file 156(3) CrPC Application in Court.

2 The Bail Procedure

  1. Check Offense Type

Is it Bailable (Right) or Non-Bailable (Court Discretion)? Your lawyer checks the IPC sections.

  2. File Application

Advocate files Bail Application in Magistrate or Sessions Court. Police is asked for the Case Diary.

  3. Arguments & Order

Lawyer argues why custody is not needed. If satisfied, Judge grants bail. If rejected, move to High Court.

  4. Bail Bonds & Release

Two sureties (Guarantors) submit FD/RC papers to court. Release order (Parwana) goes to Jail.
